Proposal for a new organisational structure of ASIFA
The ASIFA Board has decided hold an
Extraordinary General Assembly
at the Annecy 2003 Festival:
Thursday, 5th June 2003, 10.00-12.00
Friday, 6th June 2003, 10.00-12.00

After announcing the EGA several times (on this homepage, in the ASIFA Magazine and by direct mailing) all ASIFA Members have now received more detailed material about the forseen change.
All needed information is also published here, at asifa.net/EGA2003.

The preparations in our ASIFA Groups are (or should be) now running.

It is very important, that we have enough ASIFA members present or represented at the EGA (33% of our members.)
Therefore we remind you once again, that all ASIFA members, who want to take part in this important decision, should fill out the PROXY FORM (also available at asifa.net/EGA2003/proxy.htm), and give it to a person, who will travel to Annecy.

We thank you very much for your good cooperation.

AWG - presents the MOON project in Annecy 2003

"IMAGES OF THE MOON" - part 1 & 2 altogether - will be premiered
as one of the official programmes of ANNECY2003
at Salle Pierre Lamy, on Wednesday, June 4th at 4:00pm.

The ASIFA Workshop Group (AWG) is pleased to present our latest international project "IMAGES OF THE MOON", participated by 21 workshops from 15 countries: Norway, Belgium, France, Ukraine, USA, Greece, UK, Germany, Brazil, India, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Austria, Russia and Japan. All the works were edited into a compilation by Robi Engler, with the assistance of AAA Workshops.

More than 400 young people joined in this project, and expressed their unique visions, legends and inspirations on the moon, using large variety of techniques, such as drawings, cut-outs, sand, silhouettes, painting, pixilation, clay, scratching... It is very interesting to find that the children of the world are thinking of so many different ideas by looking at the same moon, and also, that so many different legends came out of the same moon.
I am very happy that "Images of the Moon" resulted to be a very interesting international cultural exchange.

Join us at Salle Pierre Lamy, on Wednesday, June 4th, at 4:00pm!!

CARTOON MOVIE at Potsdam - written by Heikki Jokinen
Cartoon Movie celebrated its fifth anniversary in March on the traditional Babelsberg Film Studios in Potsdam, Germany.
The annual Cartoon Movie uses a nice concept of co-producing and co-financing feature animations, created by Cartoon, the body for supporting European animation industry.

The event gathered 461 animation professionals from 13 European countries and even some from the USA for three days to hear the presentations of new planned projects, discuss abut business agreements and even to see some of the new feature animations produced in Europe recently. The whole event is for animation business, this is no art festival.

All together Cartoon Movie presented this year 18 projects in concept, 11 films in development, ten works in production, three in postproduction and seven completed films. Out of these 49 film and 13 projects, more than one out of four comes from France, which is clearly a leading European country for feature animation production. Spanish companies present nine projects and Danish five, followed by Britain and Germany both with four films.

Edward Bakst - Offering jobs at the CCS / Michigan
(Excerpt of his letter)

Following are the profiles for the creative, artistic faculty I would love to be joined by in my present venture, either as the permanent, core faculty or as those individuals who would come here as visiting artists joining us for 15 weeks of teaching:

We seek an experienced and talented computer animation artist / faculty to give a creative, imaginative and storytelling direction to the program utilizing Maya. (.........)

We are starting a brand new "game design" or "intelligent game" program. Therefore, we are searching for an experienced person who would have a vision and concept for a unique game program within an art college and be animated by the challenge of starting such a program from the scratch: (.........)

We are searching for a creative traditional animation artist / faculty, experienced and skilled in traditional animation skills but with a European influence, who also has an ability to teach experimental animation as well as stop motion. (.........)

Would you be interested in joining? If not, might you suggest a few individuals who would be pixilated by such an opportunity, again, as permanent faculty or as a visiting artist for a term of teaching.
